Common Signs of COVID-19
COVID-19 symptoms can range from mild to severe and often overlap with flu or cold symptoms. Not everyone experiences the same signs, but here are the most common:
✔ Fever or Chills – Often one of the first symptoms to appear
✔ Cough and Sore Throat – May start mild and worsen over time
✔ Fatigue or Muscle Aches – Can be intense and last several days
✔ Loss of Taste or Smell – A key symptom that can appear suddenly
✔ Shortness of Breath – Especially concerning in older adults or those with underlying conditions
✔ Headaches or Digestive Issues – Including nausea or diarrhea in some cases
If you’re unsure whether your symptoms are due to COVID-19, our team can help you get clarity and next steps.
Our Diagnostic Approach
How We Evaluate COVID-19 Symptoms
During your visit, we’ll talk through your symptoms, exposure history, and risk factors. If appropriate, we may recommend COVID-19 testing (PCR or rapid antigen) to confirm the diagnosis. We’ll also check for signs of respiratory distress or complications.
Based on the results, we’ll build a treatment plan that may include rest, hydration, over-the-counter medications, and if needed, prescription antivirals or referrals for advanced care. We also provide return-to-work or school documentation when required.
When to Seek Medical Attention
Watch for Signs of Complications
While many people recover from COVID-19 at home, some cases require medical evaluation, especially for those at higher risk of severe illness.
You should seek care if your COVID-19 symptoms:
Include difficulty breathing or shortness of breath – This may signal pneumonia or low oxygen levels
Cause chest pain or pressure – A sign that urgent evaluation is needed
Last longer than 10 days or worsen over time – These may indicate serious complications, especially in older adults
Include confusion or trouble staying awake – Breathing difficulties can indicate asthma, bronchitis, or another respiratory issue.
Lead to dehydration or inability to eat/drink – Especially important to monitor in children and seniors
Occur in high-risk individuals – Including those over age 65, pregnant individuals, and people with chronic conditions
